Few things in the guitar world are as polarizing as a Single Pickup Guitar. Often, guitarists dismiss guitars with minimal electronics, citing the lack of versatility as the reason. However, the Pro's include fewer electronic components which means less to go wrong, easier navigation of the controls, and they are typically lighter weight due to the reduced components. And the big one: reduced magnetic pull on the strings. This last one plays a large role in why single-pickup guitars are so lively and resonant. A single Custom P-90 in the bridge position has a black, dog-ear cover on it for a classic-looking Gibson. A master volume and master tone covers the electronics.
The body is made from Mahogany, keeping the recipe for the Junior simple. The neck is also made from Mahogany while the fingerboard is made from Indian Rosewood. The neck is carved to a 50s Rounded Medium C Profile that has a full feel to it. 22 Authentic Medium Jumbo frets are installed on the fingerboard and provide a glassy feeling playing surface to enjoy. The nut width is 1.6875" and the nut material is Nylon, the same stuff you'll find on the 1959 Les Paul Standard! The neck and body are glued together using Hide Glue, a very difficult substance to work with that must be heated and applied very quickly.

In guitar lingo, being "ruined" is when you play something so good, that there's no going back to what you once had. No Gibson guitar has evoked this expression more than the Les Paul Junior. In the 1950s it was sold as a student/budget model -- as simple as a set-neck electric guitar could be. But after a while, the humble Les Paul Junior caught the ear of professional guitarists who appreciated its sonic purity and minimalist components. Gibson Custom Shop has proudly kept the recipe the same for this Historic Reissue. From the solid mahogany and hide glue construction to the vintage-style wiring, the classic Les Paul Junior is back...and ready to "ruin" you.
