The Gibson Les Paul Standard 60s Double Trouble takes everything players love about the regular Les Paul Standard 60s and adds a little extra vintage flair. These limited-edition models combine subtly faded, vintage-inspired finishes with uncovered Burstbucker pickups featuring distinctive Double Classic White bobbins. The result is a classic Les Paul look with just enough of a twist to stand out.
Under the finish, you'll find the traditional Les Paul recipe: a solid, non-weight-relieved mahogany body topped with AA figured maple. The mahogany neck features Gibson's SlimTaper profile, paired with a rosewood fingerboard, 22 medium-jumbo frets, and classic trapezoid inlays. It's a familiar combination that delivers the look, feel, and sustain that have made the Les Paul Standard a longtime favorite.
The Double Trouble models get their distinctive appearance from two key details. First, the Burstbucker 61R neck and Burstbucker 61T bridge humbuckers are left uncovered, showing off their Double Classic White bobbins. Both pickups use Alnico 5 magnets and are handcrafted in Gibson's Pickup Shop. Second, the nitrocellulose lacquer finish has a subtle vintage fade compared with Gibson's standard finishes. These are still full-gloss finishes, but the slightly softened colors give them the appearance of a Les Paul that's had a few years to settle in. Since each burst is hand-sprayed, the pattern will vary a bit from guitar to guitar.
The vintage-inspired details continue with an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, lightweight aluminum Stop Bar tailpiece, Grover Rotomatic tuners with kidney buttons, and gold Top Hat knobs with silver reflectors and dial pointers. The electronics are hand-wired with audio-taper potentiometers and Orange Drop capacitors.
Production is limited to just 500 guitars per color, making the Les Paul Standard 60s Double Trouble a special take on a familiar classic. If you love the traditional Les Paul Standard 60s but want something with a little more vintage character, this one deserves a closer look.
