The PRS Santana Retro 10 Top Electric Guitar celebrates one of the most influential guitar players of all time! The Retro Model in particular summons the Pre-Factory Days, with many original details that have been changed over the last couple of decades.
The Santana Retro Model features a beautiful carved and figured Maple Top. It was expertly finished by the talented crew at PRS who know how to 'read' maple better than anyone. This guitar is finished in Orange, definitely one of our best-selling PRS colors. The back of the body is made from Mahogany. The Maple/Mahogany tonewood combo has been time-tested and fully approved by players the world over.
The neck is made from Mahogany and is carved to the Santana Retro Profile. This is a fairly full-feeling neck that measures in at 7/8" depth at the 1st fret. The fingerboard is made from Rosewood, carries a 10" fingerboard radius, and is bound for an elegant look. This neck features 24 frets and fantastic high-fret access.
The pickups are a pair of Santana Humbuckers. The controls are simple: Master Volume, Master Tone, and a 3-way pickup toggle. This is a very easy guitar to make sound great, especially for singing leads.
From the PRS Website... Carlos Santana's longstanding creative partnership with Paul Reed Smith has done much to shape the destiny of PRS Guitars. Over the years, we have honored this pivotal alliance by offering variations of his signature model instrument. The Santana Retro pays homage to the early "Pre-Factory" guitars Paul built for Carlos in the early 1980's. Several unique design elements are reintroduced on this model, including a deeper body carve, original style heel, and the original headstock shape and nut placement.
The Santana Retro blends history and modern manufacturing to create a highly musical guitar good enough for the man himself.
