This PRS SE Silver Sky John Mayer Electric Guitar in Moon White weighs in at 6 lbs 14 oz. This is the import version of the now legendary Silver Sky from PRS. It is priced well under $1000 and punches well above its weight! Visually, it's tough to tell this one apart from the USA Made version! Made with a Basswood Body, Maple Neck, and Rosewood Fingerboard, this guitar has a sweet tonewood combo going that has an undeniably Strat-y sound!
Basswood is used as the body in the construction of this model. This is an often-overlooked tonewood due to how inexpensive it is. While it lacks the hefty price tag of other tonewoods It certainly isn't lacking in tone. In fact, this wood seems to complement that quacky, top-heavy tone perfectly. Finished in Moon White, an opaque shade that is easy on the eyes.
The neck is made from Maple and then topped with a Rosewood fingerboard. The neck profile is specific for the SE Silver Sky and has a traditional feel to it. The fingerboard radius is 8.5" for a Vintage Feel while the vintage-sized frets are thin and short. If you dig the way vintage Fender guitars play, this will be right up your alley! 1.625" Nut Width and 25.5" scale length put the strings right under your fretting fingers and keep them nice and snappy!
A trio of 635JM Single-Coil Pickups put the sounds of the 1960s on tap! These pickups are warm and sweet with a musical top-end chime. A 5-way pickup selector switch grants access to all the quintessential tones while a master volume and 2 controls allow you to shape it to your ear's content.
