This Taylor Academy 12-N Acoustic Guitar in Natural comes with its original gig bag and manufacturer's warranty. While this isn't a true classical or flamenco-style guitar, it is a great crossover guitar for a steel-string player looking to get into Nylon guitars. Lutz Spruce serves as the sounding board for the Taylor Academy 12-n and it does a great job! Nylon strings and a Spruce Top help add some brightness to the mix. Lutz Spruce is a great complement to the nylon string. The slightly carved bass-side bevel makes it much more comfortable on the strumming arm!
Layered Walnut Back and Sides keep the tone focused and articulate with fantastic balance. Not overly bright or bassy, the Academy 12-n offers a well-balanced tone with some nice snap to the string when needed.
The neck is made from mahogany and is topped with a West African Crelicam Ebony Fingerboard, as is the bridge. The nut width on the 12-n is 1 and 7/8" which is certainly a full-feeling width to the steel string player, but it's actually a little slimmer than the 2" commonly found on Classical Guitars. This is a very playable guitar thanks to a well-designed neck!
