This Used 1993 Gibson Starburst Elite Acoustic-Electric Guitar in Vintage Sunburst is here on consignment. We repaired the back of the guitar after it fell. It is stable now, but it is visually affected. Check out the pics of the face of the headstock. The finish is checking and lifting a bit, though it seems fairly stable at the moment. The body of this guitar is checked up, dinged, dented, and scratched a bit. So make sure to check out all the pics. The neck is straight, the frets are still crowned, and the truss rod functions properly. Included with the guitar is the original hardshell. Due to the damage and repair, this guitar is priced well below market value and is being sold As Is.
If you're looking for an acoustic guitar that stands out from the crowd, the 1993 Gibson Starburst Elite certainly fits the bill. Built in Gibson's Bozeman, Montana facility during the early years of its modern acoustic guitar production, the Starburst Elite was one of the more elaborate and visually striking instruments in the lineup. With its distinctive pointed cutaway jumbo body, beautifully figured maple construction, and intricate mother-of-pearl appointments, this is a Gibson you don't come across every day.
The Starburst Elite features a solid quilted maple top paired with figured maple back and sides. That's an unusual combination for an acoustic guitar, and it gives the instrument a voice all its own. Rather than the deep, boomy low end associated with many traditional Gibson acoustics, the maple construction produces a bright, crisp, and articulate response with plenty of clarity. It's particularly well suited to amplified playing, where that focused sound can help keep things clear in a live mix.
Of course, the Elite designation brings along some seriously impressive detailing. Multi-ply binding frames the top and back, while the ebony fingerboard, bridge, and bound headstock provide a striking contrast to the figured maple. Mother-of-pearl star inlays are scattered across the fingerboard and headstock, with additional decorative stars incorporated into the bridge. Even the tortoiseshell pickguard and gold tuning machines contribute to the unmistakable look.
The Starburst Elite was also designed with the performing player in mind. A factory-installed undersaddle piezo pickup and onboard preamp make it ready for amplified use, giving players a practical stage instrument without sacrificing its unique acoustic character.
Finished in Vintage Sunburst, this 1993 Starburst Elite is a wonderful example of Gibson's willingness to explore something a little different. Beautifully figured maple, elaborate appointments, and a distinctive amplified voice make this a particularly interesting find for Gibson enthusiasts and players looking for an acoustic-electric with some real personality.
