This Used 2014 Fender Custom Shop 1960 Flat Black Strat Masterbuilt by Todd Krause is here on consignment and it is in fantastic shape. The guitar is clean, cosmetically, aside from some light pick-wear on the pickguard, and it is fully functioning. The neck is straight, the frets are still crowned, and the truss rod functions properly. Included with the guitar are the original hardshell case and certificate of authenticity. Todd even signed the back of the headstock when he was at our shop doing a Fender Custom Shop Roadshow!
Todd Krause, as many of you are probably already aware, is the guy who has been building Clapton Strat's for Clapton himself, along with others like Jeff Beck, and... wait, do I really need to go on? Clapton and Jeff Beck? Enough said! His work is impeccable. By playing a Krause for just a few minutes, it's easy to see why he is considered a Master. Todd signed the back of the headstock when he came to our shop to do a Road Show in 2014.
The neck of this guitar is made from highly figured Maple. It's covered in fine flame from headstock to heel. The neck is shaped to a slim 60s Oval C shape and finished with the same WLS Coating you'll find on a Clapton. This material always feels satiny, smooth, and dry. A fingerboard radius of 9.5" is paired with Vintage Sized Frets so this neck might as well go on a Masterbuilt Clapton Strat!
The body is made from Alder. It has a satin black finish on it which looks and feels cool! It's not often they finish bodies with satin finishes and it's a nice change of pace from full gloss. The vinyl Red Pickguard looks great, despite having some light pick scratches on it. All the extra plated hardware in the pickup covers and the knobs takes its look to another level!
The pickups and electronics in this guitar are the same as you'll find in an Eric Clapton Signature Stratocaster. Although the pickups have been installed into some slick-looking Lipstick style covers that truly add another layer of cool to this already stellar guitar! The Vintage Noiseless Single Coil Stratocaster set is tied to a master volume, mid-boost control, and a master tone control. A 5-way pickup selector switch makes finding your sound easy.
Nobody treats used guitars as we do at The Music Gallery! Every trade-in goes through an inspection, gets cleaned, then some fresh strings, and a full set-up before being put up for sale. We often even put guitars with worn frets through our Plek machine if need be! Rest assured, any Used Guitar from The Music Gallery has certainly passed its physical!
