This Used 2015 Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilt 57 Stratocaster Relic by Todd Krause in Black is here on consignment. The neck is straight, the original frets are still crowned, and the truss rod functions properly. It does look as though the frets were crowned at some point as they are a little lower than we'd expect to see a new medium-jumbo. Included with the guitar is the original hardshell case and certificate of authenticity. We did not get the original tremolo arm back with the guitar.
This guitar is here on consignment, and it is from a long-time local customer who treats his gear very well and has us maintain it.
It is a 1957 Stratocaster Relic with an Ash Body (not Alder) for a brighter sound. It has a quartersawn maple neck with a light amount of figuring in it that measures .85" deep at the 1st fret and .95" deep at the 12th. The back of the neck is perfectly shaped and aged for an incredible feel.
A set of Josefina Handwound pickups wound to 50s Specs is installed along with a master volume, 2 tone controls, and a 5-way pickup selector switch. This is a great-sounding guitar with nothing but great tones on board. Since the pickups are hand-wound, they exhibit extra touch sensitivity, subtlety, and nuance.
But the most obviously cool aspect of this build is the 2-piece pickuguard. With it being part 1 ply white and 1 part chrome control, it's all parts supremely cool and unique! We love the look and have seen it just a few times over the years. The Tele style knobs another another layer of cool to the visuals.
