This Used 2023 Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilt MVP 50s Telecaster Heavy Relic by Vince Van Trigt is here on consignment, and it is in great shape. The neck is straight, the frets are crowned, and the truss rod functions properly. Included with the guitar are the original hardshell case and certificate of authenticity.
Former Masterbuilder Vincent Van Trigt didn't hold the title of Masterbuilder for very long, unfortunately. While he did, he made some of the finest heavy relics since John Cruz, which makes sense since he was John's apprentice before becoming a masterbuilder, himself! There aren't too many guitars with his name floating around out there, so seeing this one come in on consignment is exciting.
This guitar hails from Make'n Music and the mind of the owner, Teddy Gordon. It features a bevy of handy features like the truss rod adjusting behind the nut, a Hum/Single pickup complement with the humbucker split by default, and an S1 switch to activate full humbucking mode.
The neck is made from quartersawn maple and it is carved to a 10/56 profile. It measures .860" deep in the 1st position and .960" deep at the 12th fret. It also has a 9.5" radius, 6105 frets, and a slightly wider-than-vintage nut width of 1.6875".
The neck feels phenomenal. A 10/56 profile features a V to U shape transition. In the 1st position, it has a very soft V that conforms to the hand, (well, mine, anyway) perfectly! As you work your way up the fingerboard, the soft V turns into a U and thickens up a bit. Many 10/56 necks have a noticeable or fairly sharp V in the 1st position. This one features a softer, more subtle V and is the kind of thing you'll only find on a Masterbuilt!
