If you’re after the big, harmonically rich British-inspired tones that can go from classic rock crunch to full-on high-gain saturation, the Friedman BE-100 is one serious amp. Designed by Dave Friedman, this hand-built-in-the-USA 100-watt head combines a responsive clean channel with the BE and HBE gain modes that made this model a favorite among players looking for a powerful, versatile rock amp.
This is the original BE-100 design, not the later BE-100 Deluxe. It was previously used as a shop demo years ago, as confirmed directly by Dave Friedman. The amp is in used condition and includes its footswitch and cable.
The BE-100 gives you plenty of control over your sound. The clean channel has its own volume, treble, bass, and bright switch, while the BE gain section offers gain, master, bass, middle, treble, and presence controls. Switch to HBE for even more gain and saturation, or use the FAT, C45, SAT, and voice options to fine-tune the response. It’s a flexible setup that covers a lot of ground without making you fight the amp to find your sound.
On the back, you’ll find a series effects loop with return-level control, a line output with its own level control, two speaker outputs, and a 4/8/16-ohm impedance selector. The master volume helps keep the amp practical across a range of playing situations, while the effects loop makes it easy to integrate time-based effects into your rig.
