This Used 2020 Gibson ES-339 Semi-Hollow in Trans Ebony is here on trade. The neck is straight, the frets are still crowned, and the truss rod functions properly. The guitar is in clean cosmetic shape with nothing negative to mention. Included with the guitar is the original hardshell case.

This specific guitar shows off more grain than the pictures suggest. It also has a bit of a purple cast to it, which looks great.

Love the sound and character of a semi-hollow Gibson, but find a full-size ES-335 a little more guitar than you need? That’s exactly where the Gibson ES-339 comes in. Gibson designed the ES-339 to capture the appeal, tone, and sustain of the legendary ES-335 while putting it into a smaller, more comfortable body. The result is a semi-hollow that feels wonderfully manageable in your hands without giving up the warmth, resonance, and character that make a 335 so special.

The solid maple center block is an important part of the ES-339 recipe. You get the airy, warm character of a semi-hollow guitar while the center block helps keep unwanted feedback under control when you're playing at stage volume. And for anyone who spends a lot of time standing with a guitar strapped on, the smaller body can make a surprisingly big difference. This is a guitar that's easy to live with night after night.

Gibson equipped the ES-339 with a pair of ’57 Classic humbuckers, recreations of the legendary Patent Applied For-era pickups. They have that warm, smooth Gibson voice with plenty of harmonic detail and the kind of responsive character that makes vintage PAF-style pickups so addictive. The bridge position gets the ’57 Classic+, which uses overwound coils to add a little more punch and bite while retaining the fundamental character of the ’57 Classic. Whether you're after warm cleans, singing overdrive, or that sweet Gibson crunch, this pickup combination covers an awful lot of ground.

The hand-wired tone circuit complements the pickups beautifully, preserving the natural character of each pickup and giving you the kind of dynamic response players expect from a high-quality Gibson.

The solid mahogany neck features a rounded “C” profile inspired by Gibson necks from the late ’50s and ’60s. It has that substantial-but-comfortable feel that makes a vintage-style Gibson so satisfying to play, without being overly chunky or cumbersome. The rosewood fingerboard is fitted with PLEK’d frets, giving the fretwork an exceptionally precise level of consistency and making for a very smooth, comfortable playing experience all the way up the neck.

The ES-339 may have a smaller body than its famous ES-335 sibling, but there's nothing small about its sound. You get the warmth and resonance of a semi-hollow, the sustain and power of the maple center block, classic Gibson ’57 Classic tones, and a neck that feels like it belongs on a much older instrument.

If you've always loved the idea of a 335 but wished it came in a more compact package, the ES-339 might be exactly the Gibson you've been looking for.
