The all-new Martin Custom Shop Expert Dealer D-28 1937 Stage 1 Aging in Natural rewards players with the sonic superiority of Martin’s Authentic Series and the everyday practicality of a workhorse guitar. With an adjustable truss rod, this 1937 model leans into modern times for some added functionality.

Regarded as the cornerstone of performance, Martin’s highly prized 1937 models set the benchmark for generations of instruments that followed. This guitar sports time-tested features like Authentic bracing, hide glue and cloth strip construction, and an adjustable truss rod which gives enthusiasts the day-in, day-out reliability of an instrument that travels well AND responds to seasonal adjustments as it matures. With the all-new Custom Shop D-28 1937, the stars have aligned again.

Visually, this Model is available in a natural or vintage Ambertone burst finish AND your preference of our proprietary low-gloss or the new Stage 1 lightly aged finish. This guitar sports the Stage 1 Aged finish, often referred to as a Relic around here, I'd say this is more like a Closet Classic. With the stark blonde edge of the Adirondack Spruce top cut back with some perfectly tinted lacquer, this guitar genuinely looks like it has been played with a loving touch for decades!

An Adirondack Spruce Top was selected for its era-specific authenticity. This ultra-stiff softwood is considered top of the heap when it comes to spruce species due to its extra stiffness, volume, and projection. The braces are also made from Adirondack Spruce, arranged in an X Pattern, and forward-shifted. This guitar is exceptionally loud and can easily fill a room.

The back and sides are made from some beautiful Indian Rosewood slabs. This guitar is also lightly aged at the factory. The finish has an Aged Natural look to it but it also features light finish wear and some tastefully executed weather checking.

The neck is made from mahogany and carved into an Authentic 1937 Profile. The Custom Shop 1937 comes with an adjustable truss rod making this guitar far more season and player-friendly. The fingerboard is made from Ebony which features abalone inlays, 1 and 3/4" Nut Width, and 25.4" scale length
