Used Martin Custom Shop OM-45 Ziricote Acoustic Guitar 2357969

Regular price $12,950.00 Sale

This Martin Custom Shop OM-45 Ziricote Acoustic Guitar is a stunning instrument here on consignment. We sold it originally and it's been part of a large collection for the last 2 years so it has seen much play. The neck is straight, the frets are still crowned, and the truss rod functions properly. Included with the guitar is the original hardshell case.

Only the finest tonewoods have been selected and in the case of this particular guitar, you'll be hard-pressed to find a more interesting looking guitar thanks to the premium grade Ziricote Back and Sides! This tonewood is making serious headway in the guitar world due to its beauty, tonality, and (current) abundance. More affordable than some rosewood species but (if you ask me) far more beautiful and interesting than any rosewood we have seen over the last decade!

Ziricote is an exceptional tonewood. It looks like nothing else and even each piece that is sawn off a larger chunk has its own unique look. Landscapes, spider-webbing, concentric black growth rings, ray flakes, and pale yellow sapwood are all common traits that help set this tone-full timber apart from the rest! The back and sides chosen for this guitar are stunning. As somewhat of a connoisseur of this species, I can attest that the pieces chosen for this instrument are exceptional. They showcase numerous qualities mentioned above and it seems that every square inch of the guitar provides something to gaze upon.

The neck is made from genuine mahogany and it is topped with an ebony fingerboard. Both of the woods selected for the neck are premium grade. The Uniform jet black Ebony fingerboard is set off beautifully by the binding, adding contrasting and defining lines. The Genuine Mahogany neck is shaped to the Modified Low Oval Profile, a long time favorite of those preferring a rounded profile over Martin's V Neck. A Scale Length of 25.350" keeps the strings feeling and sounding snappy. 1.75" nut width, a bone nut, and Style 45 Paua Snowflake Fingerboard Markers complete the important details. The neck of this guitar feels perfect and certainly is worthy of its Hide Glue construction and its adherence to such an incredible body.

An Engelmann Spruce Top has been selected at a Premium Grade. Spruce has found its way into the construction of literally every type of stringed instrument for the last several hundred years. However, Engelmann Spruce is a special species that lends itself to the lighter touch of a picker-picker or flat picker who isn't heavy-handed. Engelmann is the fingerpicker's dream because it seems to push a little more volume than Sitka when played without a pick. Since this is a 45 Model, it is inlaid on the top, back, and sides with Abalone. No matter what angle you are viewing this fine instrument from there is bling to catch your eye!

The Martin Custom Shop does amazing things, and we are fortunate and privileged to have access to them. Simply put, they are the finest guitars that Martin can build. And with close to 200 Years of Luthiery under their belt, let me ask you, who has more experience to lean upon? It's time, get the guitar of your dreams.
