This Used 2012 Gibson Custom Shop Kirk Hammett Flying V Aged in Ebony is here on consignment. It was purchased through us originally and we are happy to see it again! The neck is straight, the frets are still crowned, and the truss rod functions properly. At some point the EMG-H bridge pick up gave out and only produces half output, the pick up is easily replaceable. Included with the guitar are the original hardshell case and the certificate of authenticity.
Only 150 pieces were produced in total: 50 Aged & Signed and 100 Aged. This is one of the 100 made in 2012 that were Aged but not signed. The serial number is 059.
This is a perfect recreation of the Flying V that Kirk purchased in 1979 and used in many of his performances. The original guitar was retired from the lineup after being played to the bone. With this guitar, the Original has been reproduced to the ultimate extent, including the scratches, weather checks, tape on the back, extra tuner holes from when the original were replaced with Schallers. Kirk's particular settings, such as the gummed tape on the back, the modified Tune-O-matic bridge, and the escutcheon, as well as the nut width of 40mm, the split part of the pickguard, and other precise work with detailed profiles shine through.
Nobody treats used guitars as we do at The Music Gallery! Every trade-in goes through an inspection, gets cleaned, then some fresh strings, and a full set-up before being put up for sale. We often even put guitars with worn frets through our Plek machine if need be! Rest assured, any Used Guitar from The Music Gallery has certainly passed its physical!
