This Fender Custom Shop 1969 Stratocaster Heavy Relic Masterbuilt by Jason Smith in Olympic White weighs 7 lbs 7 oz. Another stunning relic from Jason Smith has arrived! This time it's a 1969 Strat with a reversed, matching headstock, hand-wound pickups, and a phenomenal neck profile.
Jason Smith's relics have been extremely sought after the last few years. His aging not only looks great but they have a great tactical quality to them as well. The body is made from Alder which helps the guitar weigh ... The guitar is heavily relic'ed for a well-traveled look. It features all the hallmarks; dings, dents, worn-through finish in spots, weather checking, a beautiful patina... this is truly a beautiful guitar!
The large headstock is reversed and it matches the body color for a very striking look. The neck profile is the very comfy 1969 U-shaped profile. With broader shoulders and more meat on its bones than an early 60s Strat, this profile is truly a shop favorite! The neck is made from quarter-sawn maple which is more stable than flat-sawn. It has 6105 Frets and a 9.5" fingerboard radius for a fantastic playing surface. Classic Fender appointments like 1.65" nut width and 25.5" scale length give this guitar a classic Fender feel.
The pickup compliment consists of handwound 69 Strat pickups in the neck and middle positions with the middle being reverse wound/reverse polarity for noise free operation in positions 2 and 4. The bridge pickup is a Fat 60s which thickens things up a bit since the 69 bridge position is very thin and bright. The bridge pickup also has a reversed angle on it. The guitar has a master volume, 2 tone controls, and a 5-way pickup selector switch.
