This Fender Custom Shop 63 Stratocaster Journeyman Relic in Aged Vintage White weighs 7 lbs 15 oz. It features the same specs as our super-successful 63 Strat Journeyman Relic's but with one G.A.S. inducing change... A Rosewood Neck!
A Rosewood Neck is not only aesthetically beautiful but also drastically changes the tone of an instrument. Rosewood is not as bright-sounding, nor does it snap and pop as Maple can. Rosewood seems to swallow a bit of the plosive or initial attack of heavily struck notes, giving it a smoother, warmer, and richer tone. This Strat would serve great as any Rhythm Players #1 or for anyone who finds the typical Strat too bright or shrill. Want a warmer than brighter Strat? Here it is!
The neck dimensions start with a familiar 60s Oval C shape that measures .790" in depth at the 1st fret and .930" at the 12th fret. If you have previously played one of our 63s, this is the same profile. The fingerboard is made with a separate AAA-Rated Piece of Rosewood that has a 9.5" fingerboard radius. Other familiar features include 1.65" nut width, a bone nut, and 25.5" scale length.
The body is made from Alder and has the Deep Contours of the 62 Strat Body Shape. Super comfy up against the ribs and for the picking hand. Alder is the most often used tonewood throughout the history of the company. Literally, every model Fender that has made it to market, has been made with Alder.
A trio of hand-wound 60s Stratocaster Single-Coil PIckups is are installed in this Strat. These jangly, sweet, and warm-sounding pickups offer up 5 beautifully musical tones for you to explore. A master volume, 2 tone controls, and a 5-way pickup selector switch cover the controls.
This model is certainly a breath of fresh air. We have seen hundreds of our usual 63 Journeymen Relic Strats but the Rosewood Neck ups the ante, perfectly!
