This Gibson Custom 1964 Trini Lopez Standard Reissue in Sixties Cherry VOS is stunning! The Trini spins the ES-335 concept with visual upgrades like the Diamond Shaped F-holes, a 6 in-line Headstock, and Split Diamond Fingerboard Inlays. The addition of the custom Tailpiece and Nylon Saddles drives some seriously impressive mid-range into the mix, and drives the top of the guitar perfectly! Thanks to Mr. Dave Grohl, the Trini has been enjoying a massive resurgence in popularity!
Much like an ES-335, the Trini Lopez model is made from laminated woods. The Maple/Poplar/Maple sandwich has served the semi-hollow world for decades so why mess with the recipe?! This one is finished in 60's Cherry Nitrocellulose lacquer and treated to Gibson's VOS (Vintage Original Spec) finish aging process. A solid Maple center block of maple helps keep this guitar rock-steady and helps reduce feedback.
The neck is made from Mahogany and is topped with a rosewood fingerboard that carries a 12" fingerboard radius. The Neck Profile is called a 64 Medium C and carries some extra heft over the Standard 335 models. In other words, if you like a little chunkier neck, this one will do! 22 Authentic Medium-Jumbo Frets provide the perfect playing surface, 1.69" Nut Width puts the strings right under your fingers and 24.75" scale length keeps the strings feeling slinky. Hide Glue Construction was used for all aspects of the neck.
A pair of Alnico III loaded Custombucker Humbuckers come stock in the Trini. These pickups are less in your face than anything with Alnico V so if a warmer, sweeter, more vintage tone is your thing, then so should be this guitar! Each pickup has its own volume and tone control and is accessible via the 3-way pickup toggle switch.
