This Gibson Custom Shop L-5 CES Hollowbody in Vintage Sunburst is brand new! We have had it on order for about 6 years now and they finally delivered it! Gibson isn't even taking new orders for any Arch Top models these days so we are equal parts shocked and excited to have this one arrive. Included with the guitar are it's original hardshell case, Crimson Certificate of Authenticity, and manufacturer's warranty.
This is a stunning archtop guitar, on all levels. The wood selection is top-notch, the finish is captivating and the playability is next level. This is a resonant and vibrant guitar that is an inspiration to play.
From its Carved Spruce Top to its figured Maple back, sides, and ribs, the body of this guitar is made from the finest materials Gibson has to offer. The top and back are bound for an exceptionally elegant look. The neck is made from 5 plays of Maple and Walnut. The fingerboard and bridge are made from Ebony.
The neck measures in at .780" at the 1st fret and .950" at the 9th fret. It's fairly thin in the 1st position but thickens up for a fuller feel. This L-5 has a 25.5" scale length for a more taut string feel and a snappier tone. The Ebony FIngebroard carries a 12" fingerboard radius and has "Reissue" fretwire. Some gorgeous L5 Pearl Block Inlays elevate the look of this stunner even further.
A pair of Custombucker pickups can go from Jazz to Country to Blues to Rockabilly. It's a surprisingly versatile guitar despite being labeled as a Jazz Box. Each pickup has its own volume and tone control. a 3 way pickup toggle makes finding the sounds you are looking for easy.
We have no idea when we'll see another one of these. They are currently "off menu" so having this arrive was exceptionally cool! It's hard not to love a great arch top when you get a good one and this one is much greater than just good!
