The ES-335, or DOT as it is known, is a staple of the Guitar World. This guitar has been the 1st Semi-Hollow on many players' list since it was introduced in 1958. From heavy hitters to hobbyists alike, the 335 spans decades, genres, techniques, and styles. Used on some of your favorite recordings, seen on stage in the hands of your favorite performers, must we go on?
From a special tonewood concoction, the 335 produces its wooly, full-bodied tones. A Laminate Maple and Poplar body offers stability and rigidity to the design and Spruce bracing allows for a vibrant, musical-sounding guitar even when unplugged.
The Gibson ES-335 DOT is the cornerstone of the Gibson ES line-up. From its inaugural appearance in 1958, the Gibson ES-335 set an unmatched standard. We have Pearloid dot inlays on a rosewood fingerboard that has a 12" fingerboard radius. The neck features a hand-rolled Rounded "C" profile that reminds players where it all started. 22 Medium-Jumbo Frets helps this guitar play like a dream with low, wide fret surfaces that are ultra-friendly to big bends and vibrato.
Gibson's Calibrated T-Type humbucking pickups are paired with their hand-wired control assembly which consists of Volume and Tone controls for each pickup. These humbuckers are Gibson's finest attempt yet at making a pickup that sounds great clean and dirty. These humbuckers have a more open top end, with an airy presence, not common on many Gibson pickups but they sure are perfect for any Semi-Hollow. A 3-way pickup toggle switch grants access to each individual pickup or both.
The Tuning stability and precise intonation are provided by the Vintage Deluxe tuners with Keystone buttons, paired with a lightweight Aluminum ABR-1 bridge and Stop Bar tailpiece, anchored by steel thumb-wheels and tailpiece studs.
