The Gibson ES-339 Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar is perfect. Perfect size, perfect sound, and perfectly priced. This Lil' 335 is a tone-monster that has all the benefits of Semi-Hollow design but a much smaller body, making it far more comfortable for those of us under 6' 2". Let's face it, the 335 takes a certain body type for it to be comfortable. The 339 levels the playing field!
The body is constructed from laminated Maple/Poplar/Maple. This time-tested tonewood conglomerate is exceptionally durable and helps us get that big, fat low-end many of us are looking for out of a Semi-Hollow.
The neck is made from mahogany and is carved to the Round C Neck Profile. Somewhere between the 50s and 60s neck, this is really a Middle-Of-The-Road feeling profile. A bound, rosewood fingerboard is topped with 22 medium-jumbo frets, and a 12" fingerboard radius.
The pickups are a 57 Classic in the neck for smooth, warmth, and richness. This is my personal favorite neck humbucker from Gibson. It's so smooth it's actually smoooov :) The bridge humbucker is the 57 Classic + with a little more oomph but still plenty of subtlety and nuance. Individual volume controls, individual tone controls, and a 3-way pickup selector round out the electronics.
