This iteration of the Les Paul Supreme is more of a modernized revisiting of the Les Paul Custom. While the original Les Paul Supreme was essentially a hollowbody without F-Holes: a separate top, back, and sides if you will. With top-notch core ingredients like a mahogany body, a carved and figured maple top, an ebony fingerboard, and gold hardware, this beautiful guitar is dressed to kill!
The electronics in the LP Supreme are far more sophisticated than before. With coil taps, a phase switch, pure bypass switch, and traditional Les Paul controls and layout, you've never had more tons at your fingertips. A Burstbucker Pro with Alnico 5 magnets in the neck position and a Burst Bucker Pro + in the bridge provide ample output and clarity.
The neck is made from Mahogany and its carved to Gibson's much-loved Slim Taper Profile. This neck is thin, fast and thanks to the extra neck heel contouring exectued on this model, high fret access on the Les Paul is finally here! A 12" - to 16" compound fingerboard radius teamed with 22 medium jumbo frets provides the utmost in playability across the fingerboard. With a traditional Gibson feel in lower postions, and a flatter, easier to bend and shred feeling up high, this is arguably one of the best playing Les Paul's ever designed.
Some extra elegant appointments include the multi-ply bound body and headstock, the Split Block Fingerboard Inlays made of Mother of Pearl, gold hardware, and locking tuners. Overall, this is another cool addition to the Les Paul line. While not a recreation of the original Supreme, this new version is a worthy contender, especially for those who find the Custom to be a little to formal!
