This Gibson Les Paul Standard '50s P-90 Goldtop Electric Guitar weighs in at 9 lbs even. In essence, this is a non-Custom Shop 1956 Les Paul since the 56 had a pair of P-90 pickups along with a 2-piece bridge. It features a less cumbersome neck profile than a historically correct reissue, granting it a broader appeal. The neck certainly isn't as slim as something from the 60s though, so there is still some meat on the bone!
The body features a classic tonewood combo of Mahogany and Maple which provides the perfect balance of warmth and bite. The body is bound with a single ply of cream binding. It's finished as a Gold Top, the original Gibson finish.
The neck is made from Mahogany and carved to the Vintage 50s shape. This neck measures in at depth at the 1st fret and ... at the 12th. The fingerboard is made from Rosewood and carries a 12" fingerboard radius, and 22 Medium Jumbo Frets. The fingerboard is also bound with a single ply of cream binding. 24.75" scale length keeps the strings feeling slinky while 1.69" nut width puts the strings right under your fingers.
A pair of Gibson P-90 Single Coil pickups are the star of the show. This pickup can twang, bite, be dark and wooly, or ring with acoustic sweetness. The bridge can be bright, brilliant, biting, and beefy while the neck pickup produces incredibly big and warm sounds. In the middle, we find the perfect balance of both with a sweeter flavor that is equal parts bright kerrang and massive bottom end. Each pickup has its own volume and tone control to make finding your sound easy.
