PRS DW CE24 Floyd Satin Faded Purple w/Black Wrap Burst weighs 7 lbs 11 oz. This is the Dustie Waring Signature Model. A fast-playing, furious-sounding PRS indeed! This model was not designed for clean and spanky, it's a true shred machine!
The Dustie Waring Signature Model features a bolt-on neck design, making it part of PRS CE line. The neck is made of maple, as is the fingerboard for a brighter, snappier sound and feel. An ultra-thin Wide-Thin neck profile was selected by Dustie. Black Birds Fingerboard Inlays adorn the fretboard for a stark contrast.
The body is made from Mahogany and it has a carved and figured Maple top on it. Finished in Faded Purple with Black Wrap Burst, this is a dark, edgy-looking guitar, especially with the satin black hardware and pickup covers.
A pair of Mojotone DW Tomahawk Gen 2 Humbucker Pickups come factory installed. They measure in at 16K in the bridge, and at 7.6K in the neck. These are high-output pickups without sounding overly compressed or muddy thanks to the Alnico V Magnets that they contain. A master volume, master tone, and 5-way pickup selector round out the specs.
From the PRS Website...
The DW CE 24 Floyd model starts with the PRS CE bolt-on platform and includes a satin-finished maple neck, maple fretboard, a slightly modified Pattern Thin neck carve (Waring’s carve is slightly thinner front to back), and Floyd Rose tremolo system. The pickups and electronics are also unique to Waring’s signature axe. The pickups are Waring’s signature Mojotone “DW Tomahawk” pickups. Made with a blend of Ceramic and Alnico magnets and a special winding technique, DW Tomahawks have plenty of output and big bottom end while remaining articulate and clear - a unique quality for high-gain pickups. Paired with a volume and tone control and 5-way blade pickup selector that have been shifted slightly to allow plenty of room to work the tremolo, the DW CE 24 “Floyd” is comfortable, fun, and inspiring to play.
