Here we have the Rickenbacker 1993 Plus Semi-Hollow 12 String Semi-Hollow in Fire Glo. Pete Townshend asked Rickenbacker to reprise and update his own beloved Model 1993 guitar. Rickenbacker did just that, and the result is the 1993 plus 12 string, which is exactly what we are looking at here.
The 1993 Plus is a great-looking instrument, thanks to its Semi-Hollow Maple body finished in Firelgo with a Nitrocellulose Finish!
The 2 piece Maple neck has a Caribbean rosewood fingerboard and pearlescent Triangle Fingerboard Inlays along with a 10" fingerboard radius. The guitar features 24 3/4” scale length and 21 frets. 1.75" nut width makes for a very comfortable playing 12-string with a little more room for the fretting fingers.
The 1993's semi-acoustic maple body helps deliver a definite sound, making it ideal for that legendary jangly, strummy tone. Having the f-hole also increases its acoustic volume and natural resonance and gives this guitar a full, rich, and warm sound Rickenbackers are known for. When we 1st took this guitar out of the case and tuned it up, we all remarked that it was an exceptional-sounding guitar, even unplugged. It's like a chorus of Angel's sings back up when you strum this baby! Its incredible harmonic aura is impossible to miss and it makes this an exceptionally inspiring guitar to play!
Three vintage single-coil 'Toaster Top' pickups deliver tonal goods. These pickups are great, with the bridge delivering a cutting jangly top end and the neck a nice, deep resonate bottom, with the middle somewhere in between, again as you'd expect. 5 Knob controls allows you to cater your tone to your liking and a 3-way pickup selector switch is easy to navigate.
