The Squier Paranormal Cabronita Telecaster Thinline in Lake Placid Blue is one of the coolest guitars in the series!
This Cabronita certainly has some interesting influences to discuss. 1st, a pair of Jazzmaster Pickups are installed in this guitar. Often, TV Jones or other Filter’Tron knockoffs are used in Cabronita’s but Squier took it upon themselves to try some Jazzmaster Pickups this time. This is truly a thing of beauty, especially for those of us who don’t like the added size and weight of the offset guitars. Plus, these pickups do amazingly well in this model guitar.
The guitar is also a Thinline or Semi-Hollow. Much of the Poplar body has been routed out which certainly reduces its weight but also adds a nice cushy pillow of lowend to its tone. This is a great way to add body and depth to the tone of a Tele and make it more manageable on a strap.
The neck is made from Maple and is carved to a fairly common Squier C Profile. A 9.5” fingerboard radius makes bending strings easy as do the 22 Narrow Tall Frets. Classic Fender Scale Length of 25.5” and Nut Width of 1.650” make this unique model feel instantly at home.
The 1st run of these sold out instantaneously and they popped up on Reverb for WAY more money. Now, I’m not saying that’ll happen again but I’m not, not saying it either, know what I’m saying? No? Act fast, get one!
