This Fender Custom Shop Eric Clapton Stratocaster in Almond Green Masterbuilt by Todd Krause in Almond Green was chosen to match a Vintage Aston Martin in Mr. Clapton's car collection. It just doesn't get any better than having a Todd Krause-built Clapton Strat!
The name Eric Clapton has been tied to Fender for decades and this Masterbuilt Clapton Signature Strat by Todd Krause would certainly be appreciated by the Man himself, especially since Krause has been building Clapton's touring guitars for years! One of my favorite tell-tale signs of a Krause/Clapton is the perfectly "hotdogged" fret ends. The term comes from the fact that the frets have no sharp edges and have been rounded over on the ends, like a hot dog! These perfectly dressed fret ends offer the utmost comfort.
This is an instrument that can run the gamut from spanky cleans a la Lay Down Sally to the searing lead tones on the Journey Man record. The Mid Boost adds in 20db of boost/output making the Fender Noiseless Single Coil pickups sound like high output humbuckers. A factory-installed 5-way switch gives you immediate access to all the quintessential Strat tones, while a master volume and master tone help you dial them in!
The body is made from 2 pieces of Alder, the most often used tonewood by Fender since its introduction in 1957. This tonewood does a marvelous job at allowing the pickup to retain their voice without tons of influence. Finish in Almond Green with a New Old Stock (or NOS) finishing approach, this guitar looks glossy, shiny, and brand-new from the factory!
The neck profile is a slender Soft V which is very easy on the hands. It's carved from a gorgeous piece of rift sawn Maple. It measures in at .820" depth at the first fret and .920" depth at the 12th fret. The 9.5" Fingerboard Radius allows for easy bending across the 22 Vintage-Sized Frets. The neck is finished with a satin urethane that is never sticky and simply will not slow you down no matter how sweaty your hands get. 1.650" nut width and 25.5" scale length combine for a classic Fender feel.
