This Used Fender Custom Shop 1960 Korina Stratocaster Relic Masterbuilt by John Cruz in 3 Tone Sunburst is here on consignment. The guitar is in great shape. It is fully functioning, the neck is straight, the frets are still crowned, and the truss rod functions properly. Included with the guitar are the original hardshell case and certificate of authenticity.
As we all know, John Cruz is no longer building for the Fender Custom Shop. His pieces have been trading at a premium and this is a cool one to see again! We were this guitar's original seller years back and are happy to find its next home. The main talking point of this Strat Relic is its Korina Body. This African Tonewood has a mahogany-like tone but with a bit more mid-range and a sweeter top end. In the Late 1950s V's and Explorers are known for this wood. This guitar has a deeper tone as result. It's not nearly as bright as Ash and has a great smoothness to it. If you like a warm and rich sound or want a Strat to distort heavily, this is it! The lack of a really bright top-end allows it to deal with distortion more musically.
The neck profile is a Mid-60s Oval C profile. This profile seems to be preferred by a majority of Strat players. The neck is made from AA Rated Maple and topped with an AAA-Rated Rosewood Fingerboard. It has a 9.5" fingerboard radius along with medium jumbo frets. This provides a tall, wide, and flat playing surface for a smooth-as-glass feel. Classic Fender specs like a 25.5" scale length and 1.650" nut width provide a familiar feel.
A set of Handwound John Cruz Limited Single Coil Pickups are wired to a master volume, master tone, and blend control. The Blend allows you to mix the neck and bridge pickup together. These low output single coil pickups sound great through pedals or driving your tube amp. A 5-way switch provides all the quintessential tones.
Nobody treats used guitars as we do at The Music Gallery! Every trade-in goes through an inspection, gets cleaned, some fresh strings, and a full set-up before being put up for sale. We often even put guitars with worn frets through our Plek machine if need be! Rest assured, any Used Guitar from The Music Gallery has undoubtedly passed its physical!
