This Used 1992 Gibson ES-165 Herb Ellis in Vintage Sunburst is here on trade and is in great shape. The neck is straight, the frets are still crowned, and the truss rod functions properly. Included with the guitar is the original hardshell case. This hollowbody electric guitar weighs 7 lbs 2 oz.
Essentially an ES-175 with only a single neck pickup, the Herb Ellis is based on his 1953 Version. The body of his signature model also comes with a Figured outer Maple Ply for added aesthetics and the middle wood of the laminate body is Poplar instead of Basswood. The neck profile is a little bigger than other necks that were popular at the time but it is still very manageable compared to some of the much larger necks that are popular today.
The neck pickup is all we have on the Herb Ellis. It is a 490R, a pickup that Gibson has used extensively throughout the years and still remains popular. A master volume and master tone keep things simple.
Nobody treats used guitars as we do at The Music Gallery! Every trade-in goes through an inspection, gets cleaned, then some fresh strings, and a full set-up before being put up for sale. We often even put guitars with worn frets through our Plek machine if need be! Rest assured, any Used Guitar from The Music Gallery has certainly passed its physical!
